With 2025 coming to a close, we wanted to send our best wishes to you and yours. Thank you for providing us the opportunity to serve our community and promote the inclusion of people with disabilities in all aspects of life. We look forward to even more initiatives and growth for IAO in 2026!
This year, our accomplishments included:
- Welcoming two new board members, Amandeep Singh and Laveneyaa Sri
- Read more about our IAO Board on our website.
- Completing our Partnership Engage Grant to work with the University of Western Ontario’s Canadian Research Centre on Inclusive Education to help families advocate for their students with disabilities. You can access our Parents Supporting Parents Advocacy Modules on our website.
- Beginning to lay the groundwork for our inclusive recreation programming, in honour of Matthew Dolmage, through our Matthew Dolmage Fund.
- We aim to ensure that campers with disabilities and without are enjoying camp experiences together and will be working with children’s camp programs to expand this type of programming
- Continuing to help our partners by advertising their programming through our newsletter and recruiting for studies
- Establishing a working relationship with the Elementary Teachers Federation of Ontario
- Having the opportunity to spread the word about our great work through Voices4Ability Radio Programming! Listen to the interview with our President, Paula Boutis.
What’s coming up for 2026?
We have big goals for the coming year. A few highlights include:
- Monitoring SEACs operating under Provincial Supervisors and continuing to meet with our SEAC representatives across the province
- Continuing to expand and update our resources and information for families on social media and the website
- Supporting campers to experience inclusive camping experiences in the 2026 summer season, through our Matthew Dolmage Fund
- Continuing to advocate for the personal agency of adults with disabilities, as we plan webinars and family meetings with Judith McGill, with our Gabe West Fund
- Bringing on new staff support to provide direct advocacy support for families seeking inclusive education for their students
With your continued involvement and support, we’re one step closer to our goals! If you have any questions, please contact us and we would be happy to provide you with more information.
