Critical to Success: Employment during School Years

Do you want to know how to help your family member with disabilities ultimately gain employment?

The Family Support Network for Employment (FSNE) has been doing excellent work, reaching out to families to help them get their kids with disabilities employed.

Individuals with intellectual disability benefit from early employment expectations at home and in the school system. The FSNE tells us that according to studies of more than 10,000 youth, youth that attain employment before leaving the education system are more than 80% more likely to participate in the labour force than youth who do not.

Students whose parents have employment expectations for their family member increase by five times their future chances of employment! This data shows us that if we are able to ensure our family members with disability are employed before they leave school, their future prosects are much brighter than if they don’t.

FSNE has a number of workshops coming up, both in person and online, between April 25 and May 25. You can register here.
