The University of Western Ontario is studying science, technology, engineering and mathematics skills, social skills, and friendship formation in youth ages 9-14 with and without intellectual and developmental disabilities in an inclusive informal learning environment. The camp is held at the University’s campus.
From July 8-12 or July 15-19, the S3 Camp will run from 9 am to 4 pm daily. Participants with an intellectual or developmental disability must have a diagnosis from a registered health practitioner.
Activities will include coding and robotics, lessons on communicating and interacting with others, and disability awareness lessons. Parents will participate in a 1-hour pre-assessment and a 45-minute to 1.5 hour post-assessment. At the same time, youth will complete a 25-minute pre-assessment and a 35-minute to 1-hour and 20-minute post-assessment.
You can email Dr. Nicole Neil at nneil@uwo.ca for more information or read more about the camp here and submit an application here.
